YOTM 4 Weeks Later
At this point, I have worked at Youth on the Move for 4 weeks. One of the biggest changes from the beginning is the fact that I now feel much more comfortable with the environment. I have also made friends with my co-workers. I no longer feel timid or uncomfortable being myself. I know what to do immediately after clocking in; I have become accustomed to the daily routine of my role.
If I do happen to have any concern, question, or doubt, I know that I can reach out to my head supervisor and talk it out with her. I have built the confidence to speak up for myself and to say what is on my mind. I have also learned about the true meaning of professionalism and what is/what is not appropriate in a work setting.
I am excited and ecstatic for the final next two weeks. This experience has prepared me for what it will be like in future employment and professional opportunities, such as internships. I have learned life skills beyond the occupational; for instance, I gained social skills and learned the significance of placing boundaries between peers/coworkers. In addition, I have learned about the responsibility and the discipline that having a job requires. This summer I have grown in a myriad of ways.
